FI-WARE is a project funded by the 7th EU R&D Framework Programme as part of its Future Internet Public Private Partnership (FI-PPP).
Specifically, within this framework, FI-WARE seeks to develop an open middleware platform on which the new Future Internet applications and services can be developed. This project, with a budget of €66M over 3 years, benefits from the participation of the main European telecommunications companies (Telefonica, project coordinator, Orange, Deutsche Telecom, British Telecom, Telecom Italia), other important ICT sector companies (SAP, IBM, Nokia Siemens, Thales, Atos, Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent) and universities and research centres (e.g., Madrid Polytechnic).
This project has to create and deploy middleware which application developers can use to create new services, e.g., based on sensor network data, such as smart city projects.
