Security Information and Operations at RedIRIS

RedIRIS established one of the first Spanish security teams, IRIS-CERT, in 1995, which was the first Spanish security team to become a member of FIRST and GEANT Trusted Introducer

The mission of IRIS-CERT from the beginning was to provide assistance to institutions affiliated with the Spanish academic and research network. Following standard naming conventions, the service was also called "IRIS-CERT."

Currently, RedIRIS carries out various security-related activities, both internal to the organization and as services provided to institutions affiliated with RedIRIS.

As an organization, RedIRIS maintains a security team that operates within RedIRIS's internal infrastructure, complying with ISO27001 and ENS Medium Level security standards.

In addition to this internal security, RedIRIS provides security services to the institutions affiliated with RedIRIS, including:

EGIDA
DDOS attack mitigation service, protects IP routing managed by RedIRIS against such attacks
DNSFW
DNS Firewall, allows DNS-level blocking on institutional equipment by detecting and blocking connection attempts from institutional systems to malicious systems
SinMalos
IP reputation list generated based on information identified as malicious by the institutions themselves
Lavadora
Protection for incoming and outgoing email of affiliated institutions
IRISCERT
Aggregation of security notifications for services provided by RedIRIS to affiliated institutions
