The mission of IRIS-CERT from the beginning was to provide assistance to institutions affiliated with the Spanish Academic and Research Network. Following the usual nomenclature, the service was also called "IRIS-CERT."
Currently, RedIRIS carries out various security activities, both internally within the organization and as services provided to institutions affiliated with RedIRIS.
As an organization, RedIRIS maintains a security team that operates within its internal infrastructure, complying with ISO27001 and ENS (Medium Level) security standards.
In addition to this internal security, RedIRIS provides security services to institutions affiliated with RedIRIS, including:
- EGIDA
- DDOS attack mitigation service, protects IP routing managed by RedIRIS from this type of attack
- DNSFW
- DNS firewall, allows DNS-level blocking of institutional devices by detecting and blocking connection attempts from institutional equipment to malicious systems
- SinMalos
- IP reputation list generated based on information identified as malicious by the institutions themselves
- Lavadora
- Protection for incoming and outgoing email of affiliated institutions
- IRISCERT
- Aggregation of security notifications for the services provided by RedIRIS to affiliated institutions
